The Department of Economics has distinguished itself to be one of the leading centers of learning Economics in the country. As a postgraduate and research Department with an enviable legacy of illustrious teachers and alumni, it has carved a niche for itself as a center of learning in which economics is taught with a difference. Our mission is two-fold. First, to prepare students to understand and resolve the numerous challenges in the economy through relevant research-based education. Second, to educate our students to become successful professionals and socially responsible citizens. To facilitate this, we have meticulously designed our undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs.
The eclectic mix of courses offered, allows the students to capitalize on their metiers and overcome their weaknesses. In order to ensure a more applied and dynamic curriculum, we place high emphasis on dissertations, internships and data analysis training and motivate students to embrace new academic challenges to hone their critical thinking skills and enhance their competitive advantage in the job market. Some of our alumni are professors in top academic departments around the world, and are making an impact in both Government and corporate entities.
